The Best Smart Plugs for Your Amazon Echo – Review Geek

If you have an echo and want to be able to control some devices in your home, a smart plug can do this. Luckily, most smart plugs work with Alexa. Here are the best to buy.

Note that the following smart plugs can do all the basics, like turning off and on your phone, creating timers and schedules, activating scenes and obviously working with Alexa for voice control. We've also focused only on smart plugs that are compact and stackable so you can plug two into one socket, which is pretty common these days for smart plugs ̵

1; our last choice is an exception, but though it's not stackable it can put on the upper output and keep the lower output free.

Amazon Smart Plug ($ 25)

Since they are smart plugs that work with Alexa, it seems only fitting to discuss Amazon's own smart plug sold for $ 25.

There's nothing out of the ordinary, but the one thing that's great is that it's seamlessly connected to Alexa because the smart plug is made by the same company – the Alexa app instantly recognizes the smart plug during setup and connects it with the Wi-Fi network of your home. From there it is immediately ready for voice control. It's about as practical as it gets.

It's not quite the cheapest smart plug on the block (as we'll prove below), but if you use Alexa heavily and want to jump on the smart plug train from Amazon Smart Plug is a great way to get 100 % compatibility with zero headaches or configuration issues.

Sonoff S31 Smart Plug ($ 19)

It's not the best-known smart plug brand on the market, but the Sonoff S31 only costs $ 19, making it one of the cheapest options. Even better, these low costs do not give you fewer features. In fact, it comes with a really nice feature that we do not often see in smart plugs.

It comes with power monitoring, which you can find in many smart plugs, but the Sonoff lets you enable overload protection. So when a certain wattage is reached, the power is turned off by the plug. If you use the plug in a situation where a heater or other high-draw device could cause a problem, the Watertightness feature is quite handy.

And of course, the S31 with Alexa for controlling fans, heaters and lights with your voice makes it the cheapest smart plug we've seen and compatible with the Amazon voice assistant platform.

TP Link Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini ($ 26)

TP-Link's Kasa brand already offers a handful of different Smarthome products. So, if you already have a few installed in your house, the Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini is a great addition Alexa for $ 26

The Kasa Smart Plug is your simple, no frills model, but it comes with an absence mode, the You can turn your lights on and off randomly when you're gone, so it looks like you're home and active. Such a feature is very convenient, especially if you do not want to create an easy-to-guess lighting schedule.

In addition, you will often see that Kasa products are on the market, and I'm not making any headway with the upcoming holidays. I doubt you'll find them cheaper in no time.

Belkin WeMo Insight ($ 40)

Belkin's WeMo brand for smarthome products has been around for some time, and although there are more companies in the block that are competing with WeMo, the WeMo Insight still has some unique features that its higher justify price

The biggest selling point is not just the power monitoring, but also the ability to set up notifications so that the smart plug detects a power input that is higher than the specified wattage warning

It may not seem like one big deal, but that's great for when you forget to turn off something like a space heater, and it ends again after you've left the house. They can find out about it and turn it off before it wastes more electricity or, more importantly, before it causes any great danger.
