You're already on YouTube to watch music videos, learn new skills, and subscribe to your favorite characters and shows. But if you just click Play on a video, you're probably not doing enough. YouTube has failed to become the largest online video site in the world, with more than 2 billion monthly logged in visitors sitting on its laurels. There is a world of deeper functions to discover and explore ̵

1; some that you may not even have known you wanted.

Take a look at these helpful tips to find out which ones you will use everyday.

YouTube Music to Download Up to 500 Titles for You

YouTube Music is launching a new feature called "Intelligent Downloads", which will allow you to download up to 500 titles to listen to them offline. (If you have YouTube Music Premium, you may already have access.) YouTube will choose songs based on the type of music you normally hear. You have control over how many songs YouTube downloads. The music is downloaded at night via your Wi-Fi connection.

Play a video from a certain time.

Watch a 38-minute video and discover a fun part. Send the video to all your friends and ask them to fast forward 13 minutes and 20 seconds. But did you know that you can only send them the link from that point on? All you have to do is append & t = 13m20s to the end of the URL (change the numbers in the timestamp you want to share), and your friends may be correct Start watching.

You can also pause the playback and Share (below the video)> Start at and copy the link to send it to your friends and family.

Creating a GIF from a Video

It's easy to create a brilliant GIF that can flood the Internet.

1. Just type "GIF" in front of "YouTube" in the URL of the video you are watching. Suppose this video shows real dogs hitting Sony's Aibo robot dog whose URL is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sjX-sQyLsY. Add the URL GIF like this –https: //www.GIFyoutube.com/watch? V = 4sjX-sQyLsY – and it changes to the following format: https://gifs.com/watch?v=4sjX -sQyLsY.

2. This redirects you to www.gifs.com, where you can select the start and end times of the clip from your selected video that you want to turn into a GIF.

3. Click the green check mark on the left side of the screen to see the playback.

4. You can select different editing options, such as: Cutting, mirroring and adding stickers.

5. Select Create GIF then choose who can see it and add a title and tags.

6. Click Next and copy the link to the GIF to share it on social media. You can also download the GIF.

Page Up and Page Down Keys

Use the arrow keys and letter keys on your keyboard to jump forward in a video on any device. You can move forward or backward in a video on your desktop (you can also use the J and L keys to fast forward or rewind for 10 seconds). When using your phone, double-tap the screen to navigate forwards or backwards. Swipe left or right on your phone to go to the next video.

To see the full list of keyboard shortcuts on your desktop, click the three stacked dots in the top right corner and select Keyboard Shortcuts .

YouTube TV Mode (watching a movie)

When you watch a movie or video on YouTube, you get a larger screen in YouTube TV mode without going into full screen mode. This is especially useful when watching YouTube videos on your Smart TV.

Go to www.youtube.com/tv and enter your Google credentials. You must verify your account information with a screen code. The quality of the video you choose should automatically be in HD for the best viewing experience.

Enable subtitles when you are in a quiet place.

If you're in a library or at work and have no headphones or are having trouble understanding what people are saying, you can turn on the subtitles in a video. All you have to do is click on the CC icon.

If the speaker uses another language that you do not know, you can also use the built-in Google Translate feature. Tap the settings icon that looks like a gear, select Subtitles > Translate automatically and choose your preferred language.

Use a dark mode.

At night, a bright white screen can strain your eyes. Fortunately, YouTube Dark Theme offers to make the light on your screen less harsh. In the YouTube app, go to your settings and slide the toggle switch over. On your computer, click the three stacked dots in the upper right corner, select Dark Theme and click the toggle switch.

Use picture-in-picture to watch videos with another app.

You may want to send a text message while watching a YouTube video. This is where the picture-in-picture option comes into play. Picture-in-picture reduces the video you are watching to a smaller square that you can move around on your screen. Unfortunately, this is only available to YouTube Premium members on Android mobile devices.

To enable this feature, go to your Android Settings > Apps & Notifications > Advanced > Special Access > ] Picture-in-picture, select YouTube and turn on the switch.
