Seven family members in Yates County, New York, including young children, were seriously injured in a collision between a car and a horse and a buggy on Sunday, according to the county sheriff’s office.
Yates County Sheriff Ron Spike confirmed that the collision occurred in the small city of Jerusalem. He described the collision as a “mass accident with several critical injuries”.
Spike later told reporters that children as young as seven months of age were among the injured. He said four emergency helicopters were on hand to fly the victims.
The family horse had to be euthanized, Rochester’s WHEC reported.
