Calling Google Assistant

You can start a conversation with the Google homepage by saying "OK, Google," or "Hey, Google." Calling Google Assistant on your phone or other device using Google Assistant works in the same way, but your account can only respond to one of the devices, even though they both hear you.

The features of all Google speakers are identical. Also third-party speakers offer almost the same functions. Unless otherwise stated, the Google Home commands listed below may be used with any Google Smart Speaker or Smart Display.

Controlling Wifi

Google Assistant installs on both Google Wifi and Google Nest Wifi access points as well as on a number of third party Netgear and third-party routers. These commands work with Google devices, and most also with third-party routers.

  • To disconnect certain devices from the Internet: "OK, google, turn off the kids' Wi-Fi."
  • Restart: "OK, Google, restart my router."

Voice Recognition

You and up to six family members can train Google Home to recognize your voice. The technology is not very easy . So be careful before you allow Google to use your voice to review purchases. Otherwise, Google may tailor certain responses based on the conversation partner. For example, ask for your calendar or commute, and Google will give you an individual answer.

  google-nest-hub-max00-9 "data-original =" https://cnet4.cbsistatic.com/img/Xhi4bI0fho8mqJ3Z19GTtw8y5Yk = / 2019/09/06 / 0cc3945a-bd04-496f-abf3-c13780e03f49 / google -nest-hub-max00-9.jpg [19659065<google-nest-hub-max00-9<GoogleNestHubMaxand7-inchnestHoweverincludeEnoughGoogleNestecosystem</p>

Face detection on the Nest Hub Max

If you have a Google Nest Hub Max, you and up to six family members can use Face Detection. Google emphasizes that the technology is not a security feature because it is possible for a photo of your face or even a family member that looks like you are fooling the device so that you can not approve of any purchases. Otherwise, as with Voice Match, Google can tailor certain responses based on the person looking at the camera. It displays calendar events, pendulum information, and other customized information.

Select the voice of your assistant.

Make your Google Home sound unique by using the default voice for answers. They now have several options, including a cameo by singer / songwriter John Legend and one by Issa Rae, the star of HBO's Insecure .

  google-issa-rae "data-original =" https://cnet4.cbsistatic.com/img/EbdpOlFpka_T-i40xRyneNZ9MM4=/2019/10/09/21442464-c83f-4380-a079-d337ad0fc893/google-issa -rae.jpg

The producer, author and actress Issa Rae brings her voice to Google Assistant.

Google

Ask your Google homepage to "talk like a legend" or change the wizard's language setting in the Google homepage app, and John Legend answers a range of questions, including some Easter eggs he sings on. Here are certain things you can ask him:

  • "Serenade me."
  • "Sing me a song."
  • "Are you John Legend?"
  • "Do you know Chrissy Teigen?" [19659024] "How are you?"
  • "Sing Happy Birthday."
  • "Tell me a joke."
  • "Who is your star swarm?"
  • "What is your favorite song?"
  • "What is your best answer?"
  • "Compliments to me."

If you ask Google Home to "talk like Issa" or change the language setting in the Google Home app, you will get from Issa Rae Answers to a series of inquiries, including:

  • "Do I need an umbrella today?"
  • "Tell me a secret."
  • "What do you think about me?"
  • "Give me a quote from Issa Rae."
  • "Sing a song."
  • "Tell me a joke."
  • "What do I look like?"

Even better, different family members can set different voices, and Google Home uses voice or face recognition Turn on the fly, depending on who speaks.

Conversation Commands

On the Google homepage, you can ask a series of related questions. For example, you could say, "Hey, Google, play Lose Yourself to Dance." Then, "OK, Google, which album is that?" Then: "Hey, Google, play the album." Even if you do not use the name of the album, Google Assistant understands the context and provides the answer.

Continued Discussions

Last year, Google added an optional feature called Continued Discussions . When you speak a command with a Google Start speaker, it completes and waits for another command for a few seconds, or until you say "Thanks."

For example, you can say "OK, google, what's the weather like?" After the weather tells you, say, "What about tomorrow?" Then you could say, "Remind me to bring an umbrella tomorrow morning," without ever having to repeat the call. You can disable this feature in the Google Home app if you do not want the microphone to stay active.

Summarize three commands

Google has recently activated a new feature in Google Home that allows you to speak up to three consecutive commands in one sentence. For example, you can say, "Hey Google, play hammock on Spotify and set the volume to 10" or "OK google, what's the weather and turn on the living room lights."

Almost any of the above commands can be used together, but some commands only work if they are formulated in a specific way. An undoubtedly easier way to let Google Home perform multiple actions at the same time is to create a routine.

Routines

Similar to Alexa Google Home now has routines that can be triggered with a custom phrase or custom schedule. In short, you can create a routine that turns off the light in the house, closes the front door, adjusts the temperature, and plays soothing music when you say, "OK, Google, good night."

Or you have a routine that runs every morning on a schedule as an alarm that plays the news, turns on the lights, cooks your coffee and creates a timer to let you know when it's time is to go to the house.

Broadcast

Privacy command s and inquiries

Google has added several privacy-related commands to Google Assistant&#39;s repertoire, including the following:

  • To access Google&#39;s privacy portal: "OK, Google, how are you keeping my data safe?"
  • To delete the most recent command: "OK, Google, delete what I just said."
  • To delete data from a specific time frame: "OK, Google, delete everything I said today/this week/this month/this year."

Third-party actions

Last year, Google rolled out what it calls Actions for Google Assistant. These are third-party services and integrations that work much like Alexa skills, except you don&#39;t have to activate them one by one. Actions are enabled by default.

You can find the full list of Actions in the Google Home app by going to More settings > Services. You will also find sample invocations there, which will tell you how to interact with the different services available.

Asking Google Assistant "are you SkyNet?" is just one of many questions that leads to an amusing response.
