Among all the things on your list, there is one thing you should not cleanse. The turkey.

Skip the Rinse

No doubt you will find plenty of recipes in cookbooks and online recipes that will instruct you to rinse your turkey before you start cooking. Just do not do it, says the US Department of Agriculture.

Rinsing your turkey should wash off all the sick germs. In fact, rinsing does not remove germs and can eventually spread dangerous bacteria in your kitchen.

How To Make Your Turkey Safe

The only way to kill bacteria on your turkey is to cook it in the middle at 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Be sure to use a Meat Thermometer to check the temperature. Do not rely on the little red pop-up thermometer included with the turkey.
