An investigation was ongoing after the surveillance video captured mail bags dumped in the parking lot of a Glendale spa, reports CBS Los Angeles. The video, captured outside of the 7Q salon, shows a budget panel van pulling into the parking lot. Moments later you could see bag after bag being thrown from the back of the truck onto the floor.
Lilia Serobian, co-owner of the salon, found the bags and took a cell phone video of them Thursday when she discovered they were filled with hundreds of unopened envelopes and packages from the U.S. Postal Service.
“It was completely unusual,” said Serobian. “If you are using it for your own personal use, why would you have to drop off all unopened packages somewhere?”
Serobian said she was uneasy about the incident.
“Of course it’s suspicious,” she said. “You start to think, ‘OK, something is wrong’ because nobody has access to all these boxes and packages.”
Glendale police said shortly before the mailbags were discovered in the salon parking lot, they received a call about several mailbags thrown in an alley about half a mile from the spa. It was not immediately clear whether the same truck was involved in both incidents.
A postal service spokesman said the agency was not commenting on the ongoing investigation, but CBS LA was told that a postal worker had been sent to pick up the mail.
