A freshman at Syracuse University suddenly died late Wednesday – the second freshman death in as many days, school officials said Thursday.
John “Jack” Lundin, an 18-year-old Tuckahoe native, “passed away unexpectedly,” said dean Marianne Thomson in a statement.
The teenager studied magazine, news, and digital journalism at the Newhouse School of Public Communications and lived on campus at Flint Hall. University officials didn’t say how he died.

His death came a day after another freshman, Trevor Pierce, 19, was killed after being hit by a car on his skateboard near campus Tuesday night.
Pierce, a New Hampshire political philosophy major, was taken to Upstate University Hospital but could not be saved.
