Picture it: You wake up in the middle of the night and check your phone. You may want to check the time (your phone is your alarm clock, after all) or find out if that person has ever responded to your message. You tap or lift twice to wake it up and the screen lights up. You winch at the bright light and close your eyes. The adjustment will take a few moments, even if the brightness of your screen is as low as possible.
Fortunately, there is an easy way to avoid this. Using a simple black background image just for your lock screen will save your eyes from this irritating scenario, and you can still keep your regular wallpaper on your home screen.
