Take bright photos and selfies at night.
In contrast to the S10, which was started without a standalone night mode (and got one later), the Note 10 has this mode right from the start. With the trio of rear-view cameras you can not only take better photos at night, but with the touch 10 also the night mode for the front-facing camera.
Note 10's night mode is simple: select it in the Camera app as the capture mode and make sure your phone is really quiet while taking the photos. In Night mode, the limited amount of light in a scene is used and amplified to create a well-lit photo that is not normally possible. You need some light for the night mode to work.

Sketch over the sky – or on the face of another person
With the Note 10 S-Pen, you can add your own artwork to the real world and capture it on video. AR Doodle is integrated into the video mode of the camera app. Launch your own AR Doodle by opening the Camera app, switching to Video mode and selecting the AR Doodle icon. It is the square through which a squiggled line passes. AR Doodle is available with the front and rear cameras.
AR Doodle has two modes: Face or Anywhere. Face puts a box around a person's face so you know it's the area to draw on. When drawing, each doodle is anchored exactly at this point.
Everywhere you can draw on your immediate environment after you've panned your phone's camera so the phone collects the data that AR Doodle needs to work.
There are various tools and options available for drawing, such as: Colors, different pens and the size of the digital ink. Select a stationary subject and draw or write in a continuous motion. I've tried repeatedly to draw a stick figure standing on a boat (I'm not an artist), but because I wanted to lift the S-pen for each arm or leg off the display, the body did not seem like a coherent drawing. I rejected this idea and instead wrote about the sky.
Record a Fancy Bokeh Video
Live Focus photos add a bokeh or blurry background effect to a person or other object. With the grade 10, Samsung has expanded the live focus feature to video.
Live Focus Video is a separate camera mode that you must select in the Camera app and works for both the front camera and the rear camera.
Depending on the camera app, you must be relatively close to your subject at a distance of 0.5 to 1.5 meters. Before you press the shutter-release button to start recording, you can preview one of the four available effects.
The four effects are: Blur, Big Circle, Color Point and Glitch. Each element gives your video a unique look and has a slider that lets you adjust the strength of the effect.
Editing and Combining Videos Directly on Your Phone
The Note 10 gallery app now includes an impressive video editor.
Open the Gallery app and either open a video you want to edit and tap the Edit button, which looks like a pen. At the bottom of the screen are various editing tools that allow you to adjust the playback speed, add text, crop the clip, and add stickers.
There is an add button at the top of the screen that lets you add more clips to your project. If you have more than one video clip, you can add transitions by tapping the "-" button between the two videos. You can also add background music and text to the entire video.
Have fun with the video editor and get creative with your videos.
Better audio when recording video.
If you have ever recorded a video in which someone is speaking or a street musician plays your favorite song, you can only watch it later and find that only other people are talking and cars are audible. Stop by and try the Zoom Note 10 in-microphone function off.
You must enable the zoom-in microphone on your Note 10 before you can use it:
- Open the Camera app and tap the setting wheel.
- Scroll down and select Advanced Capture Options.
- Move the slider next to the microphone zoom to the On position.
After powering up, each time you record video and enlarge a subject, Note 10 microphones amplify the sound from the area you zoomed in to. For example, when you record a video for a school project or work, when you zoom in on the person who is speaking, their voice is highlighted, which reduces the effects of background noise. The same applies to the recording of a musician in a noisy cafe.
When you zoom in, a microphone icon appears on the screen informing you of the zoom level used by the microphone. It goes from 0 to 10, depending on how much you zoom.
