Oh, I know what you're saying: you do not have time to visit your library's website or download any of the e-book rental apps (as described in) and perform the manual search.
Good news: No extra time required. Library Extension shows you instantly if a particular book is available in your local library. It's now available for Chrome and will be available for Firefox soon.
After installation, enable the extension by selecting your library and any available e-book services. For example, in my library, the extension could not only connect to the regular catalog, but also to Hoopla and OverDrive. You can add multiple libraries if you want, a good idea if your library is part of a network.
From there, you can browse anytime in an online bookstore such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Goodreads, or even Audible (yes, it works (even for audiobooks), Library Extension displays information about library availability for each selected book. Better yet, just click on it to go to the library or e-book service page on which you can borrow the book or the waiting list.
I just started playing Library Extension, but I'm in love with her head over heels, so if you want to save money the way you love to read, this is definitely a tool that's worth it.
