All computers have graphics hardware that does everything from drawing your desktop and decoding video to rendering demanding PC games. Most modern PCs have graphics processors (GPUs) from Intel, NVIDIA or AMD.
While your computer's CPU and RAM are also important, the GPU is usually the most important component for playing PC games. If you do not have a sufficiently powerful GPU, you can not play newer PC games ̵
Click at the top of the window's "Performance" tab – If you do not see the tabs, click "More Information." ". Select "GPU 0" in the sidebar. The manufacturer and the model name of the GPU are displayed in the upper right corner of the window.
Other information is also displayed in this window. For example, the size of the dedicated memory of your GPU. Windows 10 Task Manager displays your GPU usage here, and you can also view GPU usage by application.
If your system has multiple GPUs, "GPU 1", etc. will also be displayed here. Each represents a different physical GPU.
In older versions of Windows such as Windows 7, this information can be found in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. To open, press Windows + R, type "dxdiag" in the displayed Run dialog box, and press Enter.
Click the "Display" tab and look at the "Name" field in the "Device" section. Other statistics, such as the video memory (VRAM) size built into your GPU, are also listed here.
If you have multiple GPUs in your system – for example, in a laptop with an Intel GPU with low power consumption for use on battery power and one High power NVIDIA GPUs for plug and play use – you can use the Windows 10 app settings to control which GPU a game uses. These controls are also integrated with the NVIDIA Control Panel.
