This week, Google placed autoplay videos on the homepage in the YouTube app. Whether you think this is a good idea or not is not important, as the feature is here and we can not do anything about it.

However, Google took pity on us and at least gave us the opportunity to turn off the YouTube autoplay . In addition, you may not know that you can turn off YouTube's AutoPlay when you watch videos, so no other video plays when your current video is over.

How to Disable YouTube Auto Play for Both Situations

Disable YouTube Autolay Even When You Watch a Video

Step 1

: Open the YouTube app. When you first open the first time since the Autoplay rollout, you may see a notification similar to the one at the bottom of the screen:

Step 2: If you see this notification, you can either click "Understand it" to remove it, or click "Settings" to go to the section where you can turn off YouTube's AutoPlay. For those who have received the notification, click on "Settings" and skip two paragraphs. For those who have not, click on the avatar icon in the upper right corner of the home page.

. Step 5: Here you can disable the YouTube autoplay. The first option in the list lets you control if YouTube plays another video after you finish one. Personally, I do not like this feature, so I switched that.

The second way is to disable the automatic YouTube Playback on the homepage. There is no switching. Tap the text and you'll see the notification panel:

Notes: "Always On" is the default option. If you select Wi-Fi only, videos on the homepage will automatically play, but not if you have a cellular connection. Playing videos automatically consumes bandwidth, which is one of the main complaints about the feature in general, so this option is likely to placate many annoyances.

Of course, the last option is to completely disable YouTube autoplay. If you search for it, select it.

And that's it! While the autoplay feature may not be your cup of tea, Google may want to give us the option to turn it off. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the option will not be removed at some point.
