Despite its fifth place in our ranking of the best transcribers apps on iOS, the Voiceera still stands out due to numerous factors that set it apart from the crowd. Apart from the fact that the App AI-based transcription service could be used completely free of charge on both iPhone and Android, it did very well in our tests.
The Voiceera achieved an incredible 97% average in the accuracy of conversion and transcribed test recordings, consisting of normal and heavy accents with minimal errors. This performance will be even more impressive if you consider their status as a completely free app. In fact, Voiceara suggested three other apps ̵
True cross-platform compatibility
One of Voiceera's biggest strengths is its availability for Android and iOS devices. With the app, you can also use Google, Office365, Slack, or Salesforce to sign in to your account, which syncs all your recordings and transcriptions along with calendar events to the account you've signed in with.
That's why With Voiceera, you have access to your data across multiple platforms to be even more accessible. For example, if you want to access your iPhone's recordings and transcriptions on your Android tablet, just open the Voiceera on your tablet and call it up as usual – with no extra work required.
Step 1: Record a dictation on Recording lectures, meetings and conversations not possible easier with the Voiceera – just open the app and press the red "Record" button in the middle of the main page to get the ball rolling. Record your dictations from there and tap the Stop button when done.
By default, the title of the recording is set to the time and date, but you can change it by clicking Add Title. Select "Save" from the command prompt if you are satisfied, or press "Discard" if you want to start over.
One of the main weaknesses of Voiceera was the sole reliance on dictation, which limits your ability to transcribe other audio files, such as voice memos, that were recorded outside the app itself. Fortunately, there is a simple workaround. If you have an audio file to be transcribed by Voiceera, you can play it on a separate device, such as a laptop, and have it recorded by the app.
Speech-to-text conversions within Voyera are not performed in real-time, and the transmission of recordings usually takes a few minutes. To do this, select a recording on the main page of the app, and then tap the "Full Transcript" tab on the following page to get started. You are free to leave the app afterwards as you will be notified as soon as your transcription is complete.
When you're done, just go back to the "Full Transcript" tab inside the Voiceera recording page to see your freshly-embossed transcript. You also have the option to play the audio recording that highlights your transcript word by word to give you the ability to search for errors.
All in all, Voiceera was the best free cross-platform transcription app we tested – but there were a handful of other apps that impressed us even more for a variety of reasons. For example, if you're looking for human transcription with 99% accuracy, you should consider one of the other apps in our full comparison.
