President Trump claimed Monday that a coronavirus vaccine could be dispensed by October, saying it was “very safe and effective”.
During a Labor Day press conference at the White House Monday, the president extolled his administration’s Operation Warp Speed program, a public-private partnership he announced in May that would produce a vaccine against the novel coronavirus.
TRUMP SAYS A BIDEN HARRIS ADMINISTRATION WILL DESTROY THE COUNTRY, THE ECONOMY
“We are absolutely leaders in every way,” said Trump on Monday. “Under my leadership, we will produce a vaccine in record time.”
The President went on to say that the vaccine could be available “in October”.
“The vaccine will be very safe and effective,” he continued. “People will be happy, the people of the world will be happy.”
“You could be in for a very big surprise,” Trump said Monday, apparently referring to the vaccine.
The president has repeatedly stated that the vaccine will be available by the end of the year, but his comments on Monday seem to suggest that a possible vaccine for COVID-19 could be available to the public before the November elections.
The president slammed the Democrats, claiming they were “downgrading” the vaccine.
“It contradicts all lies. These are political lies, “said Trump. “And it’s so dangerous for our country.”
He added, “The vaccine will be very safe and very effective.”
