Twitter said it would immediately add pinned tweets to pick topics in its iOS and Android apps, and later for Twitter on the web. Brief descriptions of certain topics will be published in the next few weeks. Both functions are developed by a combination of Twitter’s algorithms and the curation team according to their guidelines.
The algorithm ensures that the selected pinned tweet is not abusive, false or spam. They are also a means of reducing the spread of misinformation, conspiracy theories, bot accounts, and other undesirable or malicious content.
However, Descriptions and Pinned Tweets are only available to users in a limited number of countries including USA, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, UK, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Egypt, France, Japan, Colombia, India, Saudi -Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
