Founder and CEO Tim Sweeney remains the controlling shareholder, with former investors Tencent, Disney and Endeavor along with the youngest investors represent the minority shareholders. With the investment, Epic Games has built strategic relationships with investors who influence technology and entertainment, especially professional sports, e-sports and live events, using Unreal Engine and Unreal Studio to create 3D content and apps.
"We look forward to working with the best minds in the finance, sports and entertainment industries," Sweeney said. "This strengthens Epic's leadership in real-time 3D technology and accelerates our ability to enhance the way people play, work and interact with the world."
While most AR developers choose Unity, Unreal Engine claims In July 2018, 6.3 million users were available with support from ARKit, ARCore and Magic Leap, providing developers with a wide range of platforms for deploying AR Provide experiences.
Unreal Engine or Unreal Studio experiences include AR-optimized presentations from The Weather Channel, as well as Framestore's Magic Leap content, Star Wars: Project Porg by ILMxLAB, and Pest Control by Peter Jackson's Wingnut AR.
And all of Fortnite's in-app purchases make Epic Games an attractive investment, but early placement in all of these future AR games also represents healthy growth potential.
