It’s safe to say that 2020 sucks. With the coronavirus pandemic and unrest, things weren’t great. Aside from affecting your emotional state, the release date of the upcoming phone you’ve been waiting for has likely been postponed.
In response to coronavirus, almost every industry has had to delay or postpone releases, and smartphones were no exception. With factories being forced to shut down work or redirecting to key materials, and most conferences are canceled to contain the spread, your next phone may not arrive as you expect it to.
To help you, this list has been compiled to give you a rough idea of when the next phone releases will happen. Very few phones have specific confirmation data, so all of the data listed can change. However, we will keep this page updated. So check regularly for the latest information.
IPhone production has been hit by the pandemic, according to the Wall Street Journal. Before you worry, the setback seems to be only a month ago, which means all three iPhones are expected to be released in October.

Coronavirus definitely had an impact on Google’s publishing cycle. The Pixel 4a launched three months later than last year’s Pixel 3a, and its bigger sibling, the Pixel 4a 5G, won’t come out for over five months after its expected release date. The Pixel 5 XL is not supposed to be released at all.
What is left of the Pixel lineup, however, seems to be back on track. The flagship Pixel 5 is expected to appear at an event on September 30th along with the 4a 5G, followed by a possible pre-order date on October 8th.

There is a slim chance HTC will bring a 5G phone to the US this year. The last notable release from the once-smartphone giant was the U12 + in 2018. Both potential new phones were announced in July, with official release dates only for Taiwan. It is expected to be rolled out internationally later in the year.

LG is redesigning its flagship. The G-series has gone to pasture, presumably the V-series too. Their only flagship in 2020 is the Velvet, which is not a direct successor to a previous model. Then there is the Wing, a dual-screen smartphone with a swivel joint. The Velvet is available now and the Wing was only recently announced.

After launching their first flagship phone in years, the Edge +, US customers should expect three more versions of Motorola: Edge, One Fusion +, and G Fast.
Motorola is currently in the process of releasing a 5G sequel to the new Razr foldable flip phone. Plus, they launched a handful of entry-level and mid-range phones in 2020, including the Moto G Fast, Moto E, and Moto One 5G.
Microsoft has a new Android phone called the Surface Duo that is just about to be released. The $ 1,400 phone is foldable but has two separate displays instead of one bendable one. It can now be purchased ahead of the original schedule.
OnePlus is likely to release two more flagship phones, the 8T and the 8T Pro. No delays were rumored. So expect both phones to arrive in October or November. US customers will miss out on OnePlus Nord’s budget, but rumors have it that a successor, the OnePlus Clover, could hit the US later this year.

After a slight delay, the Xperia 1 II was finally released. Another phone was unveiled alongside it during the announcement: the Xperia 10 II. So far we have no news on when it will be released, but with the recent release of the Xperia 1 II, it is expected to be arriving soon. The other potential big announcement is a successor to the Xperia 5, the Xperia 5 II.

After the below-average reception of the Galaxy S20 series, Samsung needs a win. The next big release will be two new Galaxy Note smartphones, the Note 20 and the 20+. Samsung is also planning to release 5G variants in the A-series, the A51 and the A71. All four devices seem to be on the right track. The Note series is coming in August and the A series this summer.
TCL started the year by announcing a new line of phones under the same name as their TV series. Two of the phones have already hit the shores of the US, the 10 Pro and the 10L. The 10 5G will be renamed the REVVL 5G later this year. There are plans for other Alcatel phones as well, but nothing specific has been leaked so far.
