I'm one of those people who think long and hard before I make any decorating decisions. Along the way, I've discovered a variety of apps that can help you choose, as they help you visualize your new space without changing anything in real life by using.
Here are some of my favorite apps for this task, especially because they are incredibly easy to use, even for someone without decoration or technical experience.
Before you choose a color, you can try it in your room without touching a brush. The right app can show you exactly what your walls would look like with a fresh coat of paint.
Big color brands like Behr and Sherwin-Williams offer apps like these (), but Project Color by Home Depot, on iOS or Android, lets you try a wide variety of colors, that are not brand specific. None of these apps are perfect, and most are a little restless, but they can still give you a feel for how your room will look with a new coat of paint.
Tap with the Home Depot app on Live ads then the Plus button . Select the color you want from the pop-up options, point your camera at a well-lit wall, and tap the area you want to paint on the screen. The paint fills part of the wall area so that you can take a photo and compare it with other colors.
You can also use the app to match the colors of pillows, furniture, and other items with just a snapshot. Touch the area of the photo you want to colorize, and the app will show you some options.
Helping to place furniture and design elements
You would like to know if a chair looks good in your room or whether you? New door arch will add the spice that your room needs? There are apps that you can view.
With the Wayfair app, you can use Augmented Reality to see potential new furniture in your actual space. Simply select the item you want to buy (or as close as possible) and tap the Show in 3D Room option under the product photo. Point the camera at the spot where you want to place the furniture in the room, and at this point a life-size version will appear.
It's not perfect and often shows the item a little bigger than it actually is, but you can get a good idea of what your room with that piece of furniture would look like.
You can use this app for free, whether you want to buy from Wayfair or not. Similarly, Houzz offers an app that lets you virtually place new pieces of furniture in your room to see what they will look like.
If you want to deepen your planning a little, you can use the Planner 5D app to create your own entire home in 2D and 3D and add details like new windows, arches, doors and more. You can also use the Google Cardboard VR glasses to see your new space in virtual reality.
This app was very easy for me, although I know nothing about building models. It will ask you simple questions about your home and your style, and then automatically builds the space. You can change it to look more like your home with a few taps on the screen.
