Prima Games, one of the last remaining publishers of video game strategy guides in the industry, is closed, according to parent company DK.
The iconic label founded in 1990 officially closes the publishing process in front of his company in the spring. DK announced its "extremely difficult decision" and said that the sales of video game guides were "significantly reduced". The publishing house will officially close its doors in 201
The company's Roseville office will be closed in November, while the Indianapolis office will operate until March 2019. The York office will remain open, even though the closure will affect both the print business and the online publisher of the brand becomes.
The closing follows on the acquisition of former strategy leader-publisher brand Brady Games in 2014, which was added to the Prima Games portfolio following a merger by Penguin Random House. Penguin was previously the owner of Brady Games, while Random House acquired Prima Communications in 2001.
Following the closure of Prima Games, the sole publisher of strategy manuals will be Piggyback, who recently released the massive Red Dead Redemption 2 strategy aid. Whatever happens in the future, one thing is certain: Strategic Guides will always be an important part of the gaming culture, and the print guides already in circulation will continue to exist.
