Another week, another augmented reality mobile game. To like Pokemon GO, PAC-MAN GEO tries to use a classic game for a new mobile experience. This builds Pac-Man “Labyrinths”
The game can be pre-registered on Android and has a placeholder list for iOS. According to a press release from BANDAI-NAMCO, it will be available in “170 countries” this month. The app list says that players can use real streets from “New York, Paris and Tokyo”. The screenshots seem to suggest that you can create a custom map based on your real-world location. The game uses the Google Maps API to create its stages.
Monetization for PAC-MAN GEO hasn’t been pinned down yet, but at this point it’s fair to assume it’s a free game with in-app purchases. It remains to be seen whether this game is fair or whether these purchases are reasonable.
