The Starship prototype of Elon Musk, known as the Starhopper, has the green light to make its highest jump on Monday afternoon, meters above the ground. The revised approval was signed on Friday and posted on the FAA website Monday morning.
This paves the way for the single-engine version of Musk's next generation rocket to fly again. Officers from Cameron County, Texas, have told local residents to prepare for "spaceflight activities" from 2:00 pm to 2:1
SpaceX does not provide an official livestream of Star Hopper tests, but some creators have trained cameras in the SpaceX facility. One of the best views comes from LabPadre (see below):
Musk tweeted later that the Federal Aviation Administration demanded a more accurate "hazard analysis" and Starhopper "should fly soon".the single-engine version of its future Mars vehicle with the second short flight earlier this month, but the launch was abruptly halted.
Now the FAA has released a new airspace blockage for the area around the US The SpaceX test facility in Boca Chica, Texas, begins on Monday afternoon and runs until Wednesday night.
With the new approval, Starhopper finally did some serious maneuvers. Hiswas a short nocturnal 20-meter start, hover and landing, largely obscured by fire, smoke and darkness.
This time the hope of this Starhopper will reach a height of almost 500 feet (150 meters) before returning to the ground.
If this next jump succeeds, Musk has said, he will follow him with a public presentation, "Hopefully Mid-September," which will update us on the design and vision of Starship.
