Apple announced AirPower in 2017 for the first time with a planned release in 2018. But this time came and went with nary a word from Apple. Despite several reports and rumors to the contrary, the project has now been canceled.

The timing for this is pretty wild, because only two weeks ago speculation about took place when – not ] if – Apple would finally announce its release. Some websites even went so far as to speculate that it would be released on 21 or 22 March after a long advertising week by Apple.
It is clear that Apple intended to launch the product because it referred to product packaging as late as the recently updated AirPods released just last week. Crazy.
