In the early 1990s, the graphic adventure Myst was a huge hit with both reputable and occasional gamers across the world. The players took on the role of the stranger, a visitor to an atmospheric and mysterious island known only as Myst. The game relinquished the fast pace of action games for a point-and-click interface that took players through the beautifully rendered island and all its mysterious pockets and puzzles.

The only other graphic adventure game that even comes close to a cross-platform assumption Myst is the point-and-click game from 1987 Shadow Gate . Even then, it's not the achievement of Mysts and only closes if you count the remakes and customizations across platforms.
Riven and Myst III: Exile the two immediate continuations of Myst and part of the Six-Game Stable, from which the Myst -Universe exists, were also widely used and were found on Windows, Mac OS and various games platforms.
