Every year there are one or two gifts that ask you to ask, "What did you think?"
You know, what's in this box is something you'll never use, and you have the question of what to do with it. Do not leave it in your cupboard this year and collect dust … and do not throw it away. Turn that unwanted gift into something you really want, be it in cash, in a gift card, or in another item you want to use. Here are some ways you can handle a gift that you detest.
Selling Physical Goods
Selling a gift is a great way to turn it into money. Craigslist, eBay and Amazon are great places to think about when selling.
When selling at Craigslist, you should make sure the item looks good on the ad. You should also be prepared to negotiate with potential buyers and keep an eye on your safety. We have a fantastic contribution going through the sale.
When you sell on eBay, your item is seen by more people, which can result in a high selling price. On the other hand, it's an auction page, and depending on when your item was listed, the auction duration, and many other variables, the final sale price may be lower than you had hoped.
Before you list an item here eBay you should consider the dollar amount that similar auctions have earned. That's how you can tell if it's worth listing your item. How to check the value of an item on eBay.
If you want to sell a gadget that you do not use, you can sell it with the relative on Swappa Ease. The service is constantly expanding and adding new product categories. So if you were looking for Swappa for the last time, it was just phones. Check the website again – laptops, wearables, phones, cameras, and video games are now included.
Amazon is another option to sell your item. You can quickly sign up for a seller's free individual account and list your item in minutes. The Amazon sales charge is determined by the item category for what you sell. Keep in mind that Amazon buyers are looking for the lowest prices on the internet. So if you are hoping for a high payday, you might want to look elsewhere.
Alternatively, you can trade an item with Amazon at any time and receive a gift card for the site. In my experience with trade-ins, you get 10 to 20 percent less of what you would get if you sell the item on Craigslist, but you have no trouble. You simply submit the item, send it and wait for your payday. You will find that the ease of use is worth the final result.
One benefit of selling Craigslist through eBay or Amazon is the lack of fees. Since you do the chores when selling on Craigslist, you do not have to share your earnings. On eBay, you can expect fees for both eBay and PayPal (should you use it to handle payments).
What do you do with a gift card that you do not use? You sell it! You can sell any gift card to a site like Card Pool to get a percentage of the face value. If you have received a prepaid Visa card, you can always pay the balance with a square reader.
