The White House Bureau of Administration and Housekeeping (OMB) has reportedly ordered federal agencies to abandon employee awareness training, which several reports suggest may be “divisive” and “un-American”.
“The president has directed me to see that federal agencies stop using taxpayers’ money to fund these un-American propaganda training courses,” the memo says.
The Post reports that it is not clear what training programs the memo is referring to, but notes that Fox News recently published a critical report on diversity and inclusion efforts in the Obama era.
The memo insists that “the President and his administration work wholeheartedly for the fair and equal treatment of all people in the United States.”
The Hill has asked the White House for comment.
The report comes from the fact that racist tension and calls for an end to systemic racism and police brutality have gripped the nation for months.
The issue has again attracted attention following the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis. Later high profile deaths of black Americans in police custody or without committing a crime have also fueled the flames of problems.
