Who shaped the term memes?
People pay a premium for coffee beans that are excreted by whom?
Answer: Richard Dawkins
A meme is an idea, a behavior or a style that develops from a person to person within a culture. The term was first coined by Richard Dawkins in his 1976 book The Selfish Gene as a short form of the ancient Greek word Mimeme. According to memetics, memes share evolutionary traits with the biological process of evolution, including mutation, variation, competition, and heredity.
While memetics theory has been applied to everything from the study of racism to architecture, most modern readers are the most aware of the lighter side of Memes: the replication of silly jokes and images on the Internet in discussion forums and on sites for sharing content.
