Instagram wants to close the gap between advertising and purchasing to create a centralized shopping experience. The app has long been a platform for advertisements that gives both companies and creators the ability to link to products, and this is a further step because they can buy content directly in posts without ever leaving the app. Instagram launched the feature on March 19, 2019 and showed how easy it can be to buy a product you like in a post. The checkout process is currently in a closed beta version. A limited number of company profiles can add purchase options in posts. Over time, however, more and more accounts could be added. Shopping on Instagram is currently only available to people in the US, and it may take a while for the option to be transferred to your iPhone or Android phone.
: Searching for a post with products
To start, you must see a post to check out. There is currently no way to determine which posts in the app contain purchasable products. However, you can first check posts with a small shopping bag icon in the bottom left of a post or in the top right corner of the thumbnail. This icon indicates that there are product links in the publication. However, this does not mean that you can check out immediately.
As mentioned before, this feature is currently in a closed beta for businesses. Therefore, there are a limited number of companies that can offer a check-out-now option. Here is Instagram's list of currently eligible companies and brands:
Adidas @adidaswomen & @adidasoriginals
Anastasia Beverly Hills @ Anastasiabeverlyhills
] Dior @dior
H & M @hm
Huda Beauty @hudabeautyshop
Kylie Cosmetics @ alkyliecosmetics
MAC Cosmetic @ Makccosmetics
Nike @niketraining & @nikewomen
NYX Cosmetics @nyxcosmetics
Oscar de la Renta @oscardelarenta
Ouai Hair @theouai
Foreign parts @outdoorvoices
Warby Parker @warbyparker
Step 2: Tap here to view the products
When you find a post, the prompt "Tap Ads" will appear "Products" will be next to the shopping icon on the left displayed below the mail. This is exactly what you do. Once you tap the post anywhere, all the products that marked the account in the image are displayed, including its price.
Again, there is no way to differentiate between products that link to a company's website compared to products you can buy immediately.
. Step 3: Customize Your Purchase Tap the day you want to examine. Instagram displays an in-app product page. Here you can finally see if you can buy something right away. If you see the "See on Website" button, you'll need to buy it from an in-app browser or open it in the full browser. The in-app browser should not be used because it can easily be accidentally closed.
If you see the "Check out on Instagram" button instead, you're ready to go. Regardless of which button you see, you can choose from a variety of options, such as size and color, depending on the product, if available. To customize an option, just tap the option (for example, tap Color), and then choose the option you want. In some versions, you can immediately return to the previous screen after tapping on the desired option, but in others you may need to tap Done.
If you want to buy the product, just tap "Check out on Instagram". If you only see "See on website," the in-app checkout feature is not yet available for this post. However, you can still view the product through an in-app browser and buy it through the company's website, which is not that easy.
If you are using this feature for the first time, you will be asked for your name, email address, billing information, and delivery address. When you have entered this information, tap Place Order. The product is as good as yours. Instagram stores all this information for future purchases. Next time you tap "Check out on Instagram", you can immediately tap "Place an order" on the following page.
Once you have made a purchase, you can view it and all other orders by tapping on "View Orders" on the screen Thank You . Instagram also sends you notifications as soon as the order has been shipped and as soon as it has been delivered. So enable the notifications for the app on your iPhone or Android device.
Step 5: Remove your billing information from Instagram
If you do not want your billing information associated with your Instagram account, you can remove it at any time. While the feature is still too new to figure out how to remove the billing address and shipping address, we know how to remove a saved payment method.
Touch your profile icon in the lower-right corner, and then tap the top right-side Hamburger menu icon. Touch Settings, Payments, and then Payment Methods. Next, select the payment method you want to delete.
On the following page, tap Remove. Finally, tap Remove again and your payment details will be deleted from your account.
