Apple caused a sensation last year when it announced that its latest watch would record an electrocardiogram (ECG) in addition to a normal heart rate. Withings, manufacturer of analog smartwatches, is now at a fraction of the price.
Announced at CES 201
The Move ECG can perform all other activity trackers too Stuff: step and sleep tracking, motion detection, estimated calorie consumption and discrete notifications as well as elevations and 50 feet of water resistance. The new device will be launched in the second quarter of 2019 for $ 130.
If you do not need the ECG function, the "Regular" Withings Move only costs $ 70 and a wider selection of colors at the launch in February and an adjustment tool later this year available online. With the online tool, you can even upload your own photos to use for the face of the watch. For those who want their customization to be a little more restrained, standard 18mm watch straps are used with both Move models.
Withings also announces its first connected "cardiovascular monitor" – a fantastic blood pressure cuff. The BPM Core can record blood pressure and heart rate and has the same ECG monitor as the new watch. All data is synchronized automatically via Bluetooth. With the Withings app on Android or iOS, the data can easily be shared with any doctor. Withings says the cuff is just as accurate as the cuffs you find in a hospital and is currently undergoing the FDA and CE (European Union) certification process. It lands in the second quarter for $ 250.
Testing the BPM core on the show was surprisingly easy: a full ECG scan showed heart status in seconds. The integrated LED matrix display quickly displays heart rate, blood pressure and other information. While the high price occasionally leads to occasional users, those who regularly require accurate medical data will love the ease of use and wireless sync.
