You can use Google Maps to pay for parking in the app. Find out how to do it



Google Pay Parking

As part of a partnership with the transportation software company Passport, Google Maps has introduced a new feature that allows you to pay for parking in the app.

Austin, Texas drivers can now use Google Pay to pay for parking right in the Google Maps app on iOS and Android. The new feature, part of a partnership with transportation software company Passport, will be available in additional states in the coming weeks.

“We’re excited to be working with Passport to help Austin drivers pay for parking directly from Google Maps faster and more conveniently,” said Vishal Dutta, Google Maps Product Manager, in a press release. The new feature is designed to make driving and parking safer as people try to get back to normal Coronavirus pandemic.

How to pay for parking in the Google Maps app

According to Google, you can use the new function to pay your parking fees in the Google Maps app.

Step 1: Open the Google Maps app (if you haven’t used it before).

Step 2: When you get to your destination, tap Pay for parking.

Step 3: Enter the required information, e.g. B. The parking zone number (which is located on a nearby sign or parking meter), the parking space number and the vehicle details. (You may be asked to sign in to your Google Account here.)

Step 4: Select how long you want to park and tap the payment method you want to use. Tap Continue. (If you haven’t set up Google Pay, you’ll need to do it first. We have instructions on how to do this How to set up Google Pay on Android here.)

You can also pay for parking through your mobile browser by going to Pay.google.com/parking and tapping Pay for parking. Go there if you want to extend your parking session as well. Regardless of how you do this, the receipt will be sent to your Google account.
