4 Tips to Get Your iPhone Ready for iOS 12

Overcast

The popular podcast app "Overcast" has been updated for iOS 12 and WatchOS 5 . The Apple Watch ($ 399 at Apple) app now supports standalone playback, so you can leave your phone behind and listen to your podcasts on the go. In the iOS 12 part of the update, you can use Siri shortcuts to control the app.

Carrot Weather

"Hey, Siri, tell me the weather." Although this may not be a new command, you can now retrieve your results from Carrot Weather instead of the default iOS weather service.

If you have not used Carrot Weather yet, be prepared to laugh, and maybe feel a little uncomfortable when you call a meat sack.

TripIt

"Hey, Siri, what's my itinerary?" If you're using TripIt to keep track of flights, hotels, and rental cars, the latest update integrates well with Siri. Instead of starting TripIt to view your agenda, you can set up a Siri shortcut with a custom command that will return your upcoming trip details without even having to touch your phone.

Tile

"Hey, Siri, where are my keys?" With iOS 12, you can select one of your credits Tiles and set up Siri voice commands to find a lost item to which the tile is attached.

The next time you're in a hurry and need help finding wallet and keys, just ask Siri.

Password Manager

Password Management Apps The Dashlane, LastPass and 1Password have all been updated to integrate perfectly with iOS 12's new password-fills tool.

In other words, when you sign in to a website or app, you can access your password database directly from the keyboard instead of switching between your favorite app and the login screen.

After updating or installing any of the above apps, open the App Settings on your iOS device and go to Passwords and Accounts > AutoFill Passwords and select Your password manager.

PCalc

PCalc is a calculator app that allows more than simple calculations. With the latest iOS 12 update, you can ask Siri to convert the contents of your clipboard – measures or currency – along with other calculations with just your vote.

Shortcuts

Apple's workflow app is now called "Shortcuts" and supports most Siri improvements in iOS 12. After installing the app, browse the gallery of ready-made shortcuts.
