Your kitchen is too dark. How to make it shine.

Lighting can create or destroy a living space, twice as much for the kitchen. A kitchen without windows can be claustrophobic. Adding low quality light bulbs will increase the time you spend cooking and cleaning. Fortunately, there are some simple ways to dramatically improve the lighting of a kitchen and make everyone working happier along the way.

Find well-tuned lights

Dinner by candlelight is nice, but at the end of a long working day you do not want to fall asleep over the hob. The good news is you can eat your cake as well: with color-adjustable light bulbs you can adjust the color temperature in the kitchen and have the flexibility to use cozy light for entertaining and bright light to make yourself one full night to strengthen culinary experiments.

We love the white Lifx bulbs . If the budget is not a problem for you but you have not sold yet, you can always buy a Wyze bulb for $ 8 to try out the adjustable light temperature without breaking the bank.

Check the CRI

The color rendering index of a light bulb essentially indicates how vibrant colors appear below it. Especially in the kitchen, the incorporation of high CRI bulbs enhances the overall aesthetics of the room, bringing the colors of your countertops, your dishes and your fresh produce to life.

We test the CRI of all our bulbs, and Lifx bulbs are a solid (albeit more expensive) option. For more information on economy-conscious minds, see GE Reveal . Most high CRI pears cost a few dollars more than an average pear, but the price is worth increasing in quality of life.

Install light bars

You spend so much time staring at your countertops when you're cutting vegetables, mixing dough, or reading recipes, but the cupboards above you often make this room dark and strain your eyes all the time. Solve this problem by installing light strips under your cabinets. These products range from super cheap generic 15-dollar strips to state-of-the-art bonded Lifx strips . They all make sure your workspace stays well lit while you hide under your closets, out of sight, and have no thoughts – that is, until you need them.

painting, painting, painting

If you look up how you can lighten a room in the house, the first two suggestions are always "painting" and "using natural light." And those are great suggestions … if you have time and money. However, installing a window is not included in the budget for most people, and if you rent, painting can be a tough sell for the landlord.

But if you really want to change how your kitchen feels and you can paint, enter in the calendar. Bright cabinets and surfaces reflect the natural light you have and make a big difference to the workspace. Even if you do not like the minimalist white-on-white aesthetic of many modern kitchens, you can add a bright, neutral color to the colors of your countertops, eye-catching crockery, and above all the colors of the kitchens. Your food really bangs.
