Social networks like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and TikTok can reach billions of people and connect. But there is also a dark side of cyberbullying, hate speech or other abusive behaviors that can have real consequences.

Young people who have committed cyber-murder are twice as likely to harm themselves or commit suicide, according to a study from 2018. One in three adolescents said they had been exposed to cyberbullying, the study said.

Similarly, 73% of adults said they had experienced online harassment, and 40% said they were the target themselves, according to the Pew Research Center, a situation that can cause depression, anxiety, and insomnia . Online hate groups can use these social platforms to organize ways to create violence and menace in the real world .

This allows you to report harassment anonymously online.
