Google introduces a dark mode for its YouTube mobile apps. Last year, we added the hitherto hidden possibility to change YouTube's YouTube background on desktops and laptops from white to black. Dark mode is now available for iOS and is now being introduced on Android devices, XDA Developers reports.
To activate it on iOS:
- Launch the YouTube app and tap the Account icon in the top right corner.
- Tap Settings ] Tap to turn on Dark Theme
The process is similar for desktops and laptops: right-click on your account icon click directly on Settings on the Dark Theme and then click the toggle on Dark theme .
For Android, find the switch to change the dark theme in Settings> General . If you do not see it there, check to see if the latest update is available in the Play Store, then try closing and opening the app a few times, as suggested by Redditors here. That worked for (at least some) of us.
For both mobile apps and desktop sites, YouTube remembers your light or dark preference for future visits.
